Membrillo is a Spanish quince jelly which is traditionally eaten with Manchego, but it is a versatile product that goes well with all robustly flavoured hard cheeses such as a mature cheddar.
This membrillo from Cataluña is made using carefully selected quince fruit from Lleida, combined with lemon, cinnamon and apple. No artificial flavour or colouring is added. This is a natural product that relies on the quality of the fruit and the expert eye of the producer to ensure the right balance of texture, colour and taste. The flavour in this product comes from fruit, rather than the sweetness of added sugar, unlike some similar products on the market.
