Prosciutto di San Daniele - although less well know in this country than Prosciutto di Parma, in Italy San Daniele is regarded as a superior product. San Daniele ham is made in Friuli (north east Italy) and cured in the same way as in Parma, but it is the unique climatic conditions of the Friuli region with its higher altitudes and drier air, that give Prosciutto di San Daniele its unique salty yet sweet flavour and texture

Serve with Parmesan cheese, taralli or grissini as 'antipasti'.
