Summerdown Chocolate Mint Crisps

Chocolate mint crisps from Summerdown made with their own English produced peppermint -  a beautiful box containing 36 luxurious thin, crispy mints made with rich dark chocolate.

At the beginning of the last century  England was renowned for producing the best mint in the world - the French still call peppermint "menthe Anglaise". Over the years, pressure to grow food crops and the rising cost of labour brought a decline in cultivation leaving the US to take over the commercial production of oil. However during the last decade Summerdown has reintroduced traditional Black Mitchum peppermint to their farm in Hampshire downs. When the mint fields are harvested the leaves are taken to their purpose-built distillery. The result is a rare single estate peppermint oil, with consistent quality and a soft, lingering taste. It has a cooler, more intense flavour and scent than other varieties - a property that also makes it highly-prized by aromatherapists.
