Tarta de Santiago (Spanish Almond Cake) - 600g
Tarta de Santiago - a traditional almond cake from Galicia in North West Spain which dates back to the middle ages. Originating in Santiago de Compostella in honour of St James, the patron saint of Spain who is buried in the cathedral there. Traditionally Tarta de Santiago is decorated with the outline of a cross or shell, the traditional symbols of pilgrimage to Santiago.
This moist, crumbly textured cake is delicious simply with a glass of dessert wine or with ice cream.
Our large Tarta de Santiago is made in Galicia. It is deep frozen immediately after it is baked and we send it out to you frozen so that it defrosts on its way and you receive it almost as fresh as when it was just baked. Eat cold or warm slightly in the oven before serving.
This rich, moist cake will last for around 10 days after you receive it.
The cake is approximately 25cm in diameter and will serve 8-10 people.
