Traditional Iced Christmas Cake

A delicious, traditional Christmas fruit cake topped with Almond Marzipan and Fondant Icing from the Heatherslaw Bakery.

The Heatherslaw Bakery is situated on the river Till close to Cornhill-on-Tweed, surrounded by rolling green hills in the middle of the Northumbrian countryside. Golden grains of wheat are grown in the fields surrounding Heatherslaw water-powered corn mill. In Autumn the grains are harvested and stored in the granary from where it is fed to the massive slowly turning millstones. The beautiful aromatic flour produced from this 150 year old machinery is then taken next door to the bakery. Traditional methods and recipes are then used to combine the flour with top quality ingredients to produce a delicious range of cakes and biscuits. We are not aware of any other site in the country where the complete process from field to finished cakes and biscuits takes place.
