Panforte with Apricot & Pear, Masoni - panforte is one of the most traditional of Italian sweets, particularly at Christmas and is a speciality of Siena. Panforte's basic ingredients include almonds, candied-fruits, and spices, but this one is a twist on the traditional panforte Margherita as it is made with candid apricot and pear and hazelnuts.
Cut into small pieces and enjoy with a glass of dessert wine such as Vin Santo or a glass of Prosecco.
Panforte Margherita was made for the first time in 1879 to celebrate the visit of Queen Margherita to Siena to see the Palio.
