Nordur Lava Salt Flakes - this superb lava salt comes from the arctic waters surrounding the tiny island of Karlsey in Breiđafjördur Bayin, Iceland combined with activated charcoal. The charcoal gives the salt a black colour, reminiscent of Icelandic lava and black beaches. This salt has a mild taste and works well for finishing dishes or even in cocktails!
Often referred to as “the underwater rainforests of the north”, these biodiverse arctic waters are filled with algal forests and seaweed. When heated by geothermal energy at a very low temperature, trace minerals in the sea water are preserved, giving the salt a singular flavour.
