Our Price: £2.99

Sorry, Sold Out

Quaker Old Fashioned Grits - a large 1lb 8oz container of white hominy to make smooth & creamy regular grits the old-fashioned slow-cooked way (around 15-20 minutes on the stove top). These grits are great for breakfast with runny eggs, bacon or sausage or as a Southern-style side dish to accompany any meal including fried chicken, steak, fish or one our favourites: shrimp.

You can stir in and melt some grated cheese for cheese grits. Alternatively pour into a cake tin to cool and then slice and fry until they are crisp on the outside. If you are in a hurry then we also have Quick (5-minute) Grits from Quaker too.

What are grits? For those of you not familiar with this classic from the Southern states of the USA, grits are of Native American origin and are coarse ground white Hominy corn/maize, the same type of corn typically used in Mexican cooking for making masa harina and tortillas. Grits are cooked with water to make what looks like a savoury white porridge, similar to cooking Italian polenta but the flavour and texture of grits is different.
